Key principles for a future Critical Raw Materials Centre

eumicon-crm-centre-position-paper-tOpmP9yO.pdf

The Critical Raw Materials Act is a major step towards strengthening Europe’s resilience, competitiveness and strategic autonomy.

A future Critical Raw Materials Centre should support its implementation by improving coordination, mobilising investment and addressing practical gaps without creating unnecessary regulatory structures.

EUMICON’s position paper outlines seven priorities:

  1. Complementing the Critical Raw Materials Act
  2. Facilitating investment across the value chain
  3. Strengthening market intelligence
  4. Supporting resilience while preserving competitive markets
  5. Enhancing supply security and preparedness
  6. Promoting effective governance and international cooperation
  7. Building integrated European value chains

With a clear mandate, the Centre could improve access to finance, strengthen cooperation and support Europe’s industrial resilience. Any measures such as joint purchasing or strategic stockpiling should remain targeted, transparent and limited to exceptional market disruptions.
